Hello,
A visitor to The Lab yesterday pointed this out to us, which we all found hilarious in an exciting way:
Big Man as an Avatar Idol? Hope you're all well. There are exciting developments in the Big Man's office, we will tell all soon...

Hello,
1st January was a fantastic day - cold, but beautiful, with a clear sky. We really couldn't have asked for better for
Big Man's outing.
Big Man Walking was a part of the Edinburgh Hogmanay events organised by Unique Events who dubbed him "New Man Walking" - Big Man Walking into the New Year - and he
attracted thousands more than we expected. He was also given a
4 star review in the Scotsman from Joyce Macmillan and a huge double spread photo!
Once aga…

Hello!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas...
This is just a quick wee reminder that
Big Man will be
Walking in
Edinburgh on the
1st January to bring in the New Year.
I'm sure you're all aware of this by now, but... he'll be starting off behind Holyrood Palace and will then walk up the Royal Mile to finish off at the Tron where he will watch "Firelight - Carabosse".
We hope to see you there!
Happy New Year - may 2010 be full of wonderful things,
Indira and the…

One of the best things to happen in Rothesay this year was the visit of The Big Man Walking.
It really brought the community together.
The walk through the Skeoch Woods with the watchers in the evening made for a great build up to the Big Man's awakening the next day.
(I have added the photo of my sons with the Big Guy as my profile pic.)
Our wee one often asks when he'll be coming here again.
Just to let you all know I'm delighted for you to have received such a terrific response to the stories…

We all knew it wasn't over for Big Man Walking, oh no. But, what a better way to make a come back than by welcoming in the New Year on Edinburgh's Royal Mile?
Yes, you read right! In the evening of the first day in 2010 Big Man will Walk up the Royal Mile!!
As one of the Big Man's humble puppeteers I think I am most excited about showing him my own city, and the city in which he was made. And I think the people of Edinburgh will be excited to see him too!
I just hope he doesn't get too tired…

It really has been an amazing experience. Each community we visited had such individual ideas and ways of welcoming the

Children aged 8-12 years old came to the libraries to write stories and poems, inspired by the Big Man’s visit. They talked about the mythology surrounding the Big Man, and tried to imagine his history, his reasons for returning, and his perceptions of Inverclyde. The results are the wonderful poems and stories below. Amy read hers to the Big Man on Friday in Port Glasgow:

Well done Inverclyde,
especially everyone who performed and made special things for presenting to Big Man Walking.
Despite the weather the efforts made were truly amazing, every performance and presentaion gave a different aspect of a very positive and energtic Inverclyde,
Port Glasgow, Gourock and Greenock all had their own special take on a welcome, the streets were lined and the crowds were great. What a fabulous welcome you all gave to Big Man Walking.
Big Man is quite the most amazing stree…

It rained - again, but that didn't spoil the day out with Big Man. He was wonderful and all credit to the artists, engineers and puppeteers who designed, created and worked such a magnificent figure. There was something quite strange about watching him as he made his stately way around the block and later, down the park. All his movements were smooth and lifelike, his face kind and happy - he began to seem real. It was a superb idea and credit to whoever brought him to Inverclyde. A grand day ou…
